DENNIS R. DEVAULT
President of DeVault Industries
Often, it’s the small moments in life that change and define destiny. Two decades ago, a simple invitation from a friend to go trapshooting brought Dennis DeVault to his future. A sojourn to the trap field, not visited since his youth, would change all. This moment in time would not only redefine DeVault’s world, but would result in a revolution in the shotgun industry that was long overdue.
Back then, with his interest and love of shot gunning restored, DeVault sought the gun of his dreams. What he found was not the technological advancements he’d expected in quality smoothbores of the day; rather an industry that had evolved little. DeVault made the life-altering decision to originate and build a gun. The Mach One 12-gauge trap gun was developed and born.
DeVault’s highly skilled background brought him the specialized expertise to open NCP Products, Inc. in 1991, to manufacture the Mach One shotgun. Having owned two other powerful companies, Dennis was keenly aware of the challenges the new venture would present to him. However, with a tool and die education and career at the Timken Company, DeVault had achieved an extensive credential bases in hydraulics, electrical, metallurgy, engineering, heat treating of metals, cryogenic stress relieving machining, and product design. University classes taken in business finance, business law and design, aided him further. With the hands-on day-to-day operation of his fabrication and machining business and a steel processing service company, Dennis was more than ready to meet the challenge of another business enterprise and successfully maneuver it to the top of the shotgun industry.
It is his avant-garde mind that continues to create and shape the revolutionary next generation Infinity trap gun and produce custom built stocks with methods that long established stock makers could never envision. It is the absolute tailored perfect fit to the client that is most important to Dennis. The master stock maker says, “The beauty of the wood comes from the vision of the client. The fit and function of the stock is more important to me than how beautiful the wood is, when we are done.” Yet, beauty is the end result of all his work as his unmatchable craftsmanship is displayed in each and every stock he designs. In addition to the quality stock work, DeVault was the first to incorporate a free floating rib design that is adjustable and also interchangeable.
Dennis DeVault’s pioneering foresight; comprehensive knowledge and superlative talent have brought the elite of the shotgun competitors knocking on his door. All-American trapshooters Drew Waller and Harlan Campbell, Jr.; All-American sporting clays shooters Bill McGuire, Robbie Purser and Jon Kruger, have all benefited from DeVault’s pioneering custom built stocks, or a free-floating adjustable rib system or target busting fine high-quality shotgun. Customers across the country, from the Pacific Ocean to the wheat filled plains of the mid-west to the Atlantic shores, could fill books with their words of high praise and satisfaction for DeVault and his company’s work.
The original NCP Products was dissolved and DeVault Industries, LLC was formed in 2007 to expand the company focus for stock making and to upgrade the shotgun design. Finally, the man who was responsible for the creativity and designs put his name upon the door.
