The X-Factor The photo below represents what we call the X-Factor design. The comb is pitched out away from the shooters face. The bottom of the toe at the back end of the stock is also turned out to fit into the pocket of the shoulder. The top at the heel points to the opposite side of the comb. In the construction of this stock the center line of the bore is in line with the heel of the stock. Having the heel in line with the bore drives the recoil straight back into the shoulder, no funny angles or letting the back end of the stock move out (cast) onto the ball of the shoulder. When looking at the back of the stock the design forms an X. This design allows the shooter to have their head in a more upright position making the eyes level and allowing the shoulder to take the bulk of the recoil instead of the face. This allows for tremendous comfort and the ability to shoot all day without pain. It gives the shooter the feeling that they are laying their face against a pillow. Most stock makers shy away from this design because it requires a thicker blank of wood and it is more labor intensive to produce.
